At the 2019 Cinetopia Film Festival Detroit Voices competition, Walking For Ded was honored with the Best Documentary award among a field of excellent short films. The films screened at the Senate Theatre in Detroit on May 16th.
“We were thrilled and honored to take the award for best documentary, but really the recognition should go to Ded Rranxburgaj and his family, the people at Central Detroit Methodist and the organizers for Michigan United. They are the center of the story and we hope that any attention the film gets can translate to action on Ded’s case,” said co-producer Pete Johnston. Flora Rranxburgaj was in attendance at the screening along with Michigan United’s Caitlin Homrich-Knieling. The event was the 2nd festival screening for the film.
